Megan Furniss

Hi! My name is Megan Furniss. I graduated from Penn State in May 2005.  From the moment I walked into THON my freshman year I was hooked. The amount of dedication, spirit, and love that filled Rec Hall was beyond words.  Seeing the devastating effects of cancer on a close friend in high school, I had a strong desire to join with Penn State and The Four Diamonds Fund to beat cancer.  For two years I was a part of Morale teams and found my niche among them, but I wanted to do more. Serving as a Morale Captain for THON 2005 “Embracing Dreams, Sharing Tomorrow” gave me the chance to help make a difference and bring us one more step closer to conquering cancer.

Then I met the Angus Family and had the opportunity to be a part of THON Express 2008.  I was constantly searching for a way to get more involved as an alumna and THON Express gave me just that.  Blending my love for running, with my love for THON and Penn State is the perfect culmination of my most sincere interests. Last year, we tackled snow, ice, sleet, and rain as we journeyed through the Pennsylvania Mountains and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of this experience again.  THON Express has helped me to live with a purpose and be a part of something truly wonderful.  The amount of love, hope, and passion that encompasses this team is astounding.  No matter how many miles it takes, slippery the roads, or steep the mountains we will not stop running until we conquer childhood cancer!
